STREET SMART- HELPING THE HOMELESS

Having a safe and secure place to stay – it is part of what makes us human. Unfortunately, over 100,000 Australians will be homeless tonight – one quarter will be women with young children and one third will be under 25 years old. That is why Vibe Hotels are proud to be supporting the StreetSmart Hotels Helping the Homeless campaign.

During the months of August and September 2009 Vibe Hotels and StreetSmart working together to raise vital funds, asking guests to donate $2 per room. Through this we will be funding emergency accommodation services.

Since 2003 StreetSmart has been changing the lives of people experiencing homelessness through a restaurant campaign run in the six weeks prior to Christmas. Supporters have raised over $830,000 to fund over 188 small community based organisations, providing emergency aid, accommodation, critical services and projects promoting social inclusion, empowerment and sustainable change to help people avoid or move out of homelessness.

julEYE (formerly July) is an annual charity campaign dedicated to raising awareness and funds for eye health research. According the Eye Foundation, as we continue to live longer we will all have an eye disease in our lifetime. Yet so little is known about eye diseases and what each of us can do to maintain our eye health.

Did you know eye disease is something that will affect all of us in our lifetime – if we live long enough? Yet 75% of visual impairment is unnecessary – it can be either prevented or treated.
